Interview
What books have most influenced your life?
Gosh, I read everything that comes down the pike. But I'd have to say the Bible. Not that I'm a fanatic or anything, it's just that there is more everyday wisdom in there than in most of the books I've read.
Who are your favorite music artists?
My favorite artists are: John Tesh, Grateful Dead, Annie Lennox, that guy that came in second on American Idol, I like anybody who has a message and doesn't beat me with it to make his point.
What are your favorite websites and why?
I'm a web surfer, I love any website that is insightful.
Where else can people find you on the web?
kayscorneroffice.com, and I have a kayscorneroffice blog on both blogger and wordpress.
What are your professional highlights?
Well, I worked in the governors office in California for 30 years so got to know a lot about governors, politics and getting around in the system; Then, in my home business I helped a couple of American Indian groups here get funding for education; Oh, and I worked on the At-Risk-Youth programs; Well, I've had a lot of highlights.
What advice do you have for the journey of life?
Don't take it too seriously. No matter how good you do something, how many people you please, how good you color every picture in the lines, how many times you avoid doing something that will make you happy but make someone else think you're crazy, you're still going to have the same result in the end as someone who did all those things and was happy.
What are you most passionate about in life?
Finding a way around obstacles that causes the least stubbed toes and the most enjoyment.
What ticks you off?
Judgmental people who spend so much time telling you how you should be that they don't realize you are what you should be.
Any thoughts or ideas on living a greener life?
I live in the Bay Area and didn't drive my car for 3 years. The air still is bad. Have you ever wondered: Does the astronauts footprint on the moon count as a carbon footprint?
What would people be surprised to know about you?
That I have 14 grandchildren, work, have a garden that feeds my neighbors, write for a living, have a youth group, take care of my sister and mother, and still have a good laugh every day.
Philosophy
My favorite quote is paraphrased from Eleanor Roosevelt:
"They can only make you feel bad about yourself if you let them."
My other favorite quote comes from my dad (in reference to the old disneyland tickets)
"Life is an "E" ticket, you get it when you come in the door and can ride every ride, but you have to be brave enough to get on it."
My philosophy is - I'm getting older everyday, if I don't try it now then when?
My mantra is - "Ummm that's good". If you are in a bad situation and say this it will either make you feel better or make you laugh. Either way the situation is not so bad.
My wisdom came from learning, reading, asking, listening, and doing.
